April 20, 2017 (Fremont, OH) – Terra State Community College student Dilia Samadova took first place in the Heads Up America scholarship contest.  Samadova will receive a $2000 scholarship for the video she entered.

Heads Up America is a part of the College Promise Campaign which is a national, non-partisan initiative that builds broad public support for College Promise programs, which guarantee tuition and fees for eligible, hardworking students to complete a college education.  Heads Up America held an Instagram-based video based competition in which entrants share stories about why they want to make community college free.

Samadova, a resident of Marblehead, is a native of Tajikistan.  She is a Terra State student with a goal of obtaining a four-year degree in education.  While at Terra State, Samadova has been active in the college’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter, student government and the lead coordinator for the 2016 College Project of creating a Campus Food Cupboard for food-insecure students.  She has made the Dean’s List, was selected to attend Ohio’s 2016 Sexual Violence Prevention Summit and nominated for the All-Ohio Academic Team.  Samadova’s winning video can be found at https://www.facebook.com/CollegePromise/.
