April 27, 2017 (Fremont, Ohio) – At their April 26 meeting, the Terra State Community College Board of Trustees gave final approval for the plans of the tentatively named “Terra Village” student housing construction.  The 501c(3) entity Terra Village Holdings will be responsible for all construction and operation of the new facility.

The new residence hall is being designed by University Housing Solutions of Columbus, Ohio and will be located east of State Route 53 and north of Terra Boulevard.  A formal groundbreaking is planned for June 28 with construction beginning July 1.  The facility will house students beginning with the fall 2018 semester.

The design approach for the building is such to allow it to blend into its natural surroundings.  Terra Village will represent the dynamic transition of the college in its richness and heritage while creating a place for students to live, learn and grow.  The four-floor building   aesthetics compliment the style and look of the current Terra State campus.

The 200-bed residence hall will include four room options for students – 1-bed studio, 2-bed single, 2-bed double and 4-bed.  Fifty-seven 1-bed studio rooms will make up the majority of units.  Each unit will have its own living, kitchen and bathroom areas.  The variety of room offerings will allow different price points to fit the needs of the students.  In addition to the residential offerings, there will be a 5,000 square foot retail component that can be used for businesses such as a bookstore, bank or café.

Outside, students will be able to take advantage of an outdoor activity.  Benches will be available that can serve as a quite study area.  Outdoor grills will enhance outside activities, along with an outdoor television and other games.  The area will serve as an exceptional social area, especially in the fall and spring.

Terra Village Holdings will begin the bid process in June.
